Highland 16 Frontier 3
Oct. 24, 2008 7:30pm. The sparks were flying again tonight. This time is wasn't the power transformer it was the power defense. Outstanding defensive play limited Frontier to 103 total yards in the game. Next stop: Foothill.
Highland 34 Golden Valley 28
Oct. 17, 2008 7:30pm. It was one of the best finishes in Highland Scot history. Highland trailed 28-14 with around 8 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Johnson hooked up a pass to Roy for a 91 yard touchdown. After holding GV, Roy again runs for an 80+ sweep for a touchdown to tie it up. The crowd went wild. Overtime. Highland scored first with a 22 yard pass from Johnson #7 to Ruben Gerrero #21 and following dive to the end zone by Sua #3. Then the defense had to hold - and they did. A diving Ryan Johnson batted down a slant pass to cinch the win.
Highland vs. Garces
Oct. 11, 2008 at Highland 7:30pm. The lights were out Friday and Saturday. Friday's game was postponed when a power transformer set off a fireworks display and the lights went out just as we prepared for kickoff. After rescheduling the game for Sat at 2pm, Highland was still in a blackout as we were pummeled and kicked into a corner by a s surprising Garces team. No excuses. Pick up the pieces and back to work. We had some sparkling moments on a 75 yard run by Roy, an 'on the back' catch to Oleary from Johnson, and several defensive sacks and backfield tackles. But Football is an unforgiving game where the gaps are attacked, and we provided a few too many gaps. Next week.
Highland-23, East-0

Week 0 - Highland defeats Arvin 7-6
Sept 5, 2008 .In week zero, Highland found a strong Arvin defense waiting in ambush. After moving the ball fairly well the prior week at Tehachapi, the Arvin squad was a bit of a surprise shutting down the formidable rushing in the first half. As Highland starting moving the ball in the second half, penalties took their toll shutting down several drives that were as close as the 6 yard line. An impressive goal line stand stopped Arvin on 4th and 1 to seal the win. See Photos.
